To change your subconscious programming, it is essential to bring its contents to the surface. Its power to control us is in the fact that we are unaware of exactly what it contains.
Spending time discovering its contents is a tremendous return on investment. We are gaining access to the source of our conditioned egoic selves.
“Whatever we plant in our subconscious mind and nourish with repetition and emotion will one day become a reality.”
Change Your Subconscious Programming One Day at a Time
“Our thoughts are mainly controlled by our subconscious, which is largely formed before the age of 6, and you cannot change the subconscious mind by just thinking about it. That’s why the power of positive thinking will not work for most people. The subconscious mind is like a tape player. Until you change the tape, it will not change.”
To change your subconscious programming consistent effort is required until we bring to the surface the contents of this part of our mind. When we become aware then we can consciously make changes.
We can then choose to put our focus and attention elsewhere to benefit ourselves. By redirecting our energy in this way we produce different results in our lives.
This requires a daily program of self-analysis to change your subconscious programming. Honesty is essential. Denying and making excuses will only delay the process of self-discovery.
A Few Tips on Changing Our Current Paradigm
- use a notebook or journal to track our feelings and recurring thoughts daily (when a thought or feeling occurs on a repetitive basis it is usually an indication that there is a core belief at its source)
- question our actions and behaviors (asking ourselves “why” is a good thing as it also leads to the source of our behavior)
- take note of where our focus and attention lie in terms of our current activities and the people with whom we associate (we can then determine if our energy is being enhanced or drained in each specific instance)
- once some core beliefs are discovered we can then determine if they are worth keeping or not. If not, replace them with self-empowering beliefs based on the truth. (this is much different than positive affirmations that are quite often repeated while the underlying limiting belief still exists so the affirmations are ignored by our subconscious mind)
- once a limiting belief is recognized and replaced visualizing our desires has the power to materialize them
- spend some quiet time in meditation and allow the emotions and thoughts free rein to pass through and at some point, the noise will cease and peace will enter
- be consistent in this process of self-discovery as it will require patience as our subconscious reveals its secrets
- surround ourselves with high-energy people and environments as much as possible daily (eventually negative folks and circumstances will disappear as they will not feel comfortable with our increased energy)
Change Your Subconscious Programming by Redirecting Your Attention
“Fear keeps us focused on the past or worried about the future. If we can acknowledge our fear, we can realize that right now we are okay. Right now, today, we are still alive, and our bodies are working marvelously. Our eyes can still see the beautiful sky. Our ears can still hear the voices of our loved ones.”
It has been said repeatedly by many enlightened folks over time that where our attention goes, our energy follows. This being the case it would be wise for us to stay aware of what we are thinking, feeling, and focusing upon with the understanding that we are the source of this and not the effect.
Truly understanding and living with this type of awareness daily will be a source of joy and happiness as we continue to expand our consciousness. Of course, this requires brutal honesty that we may be reticent about expressing due to our past conditioning.
That being the case it helps to break this down into smaller steps to get the momentum flowing in the desired direction. It requires reminding ourselves to stay awake as to where our attention is focused.
Once we recognize this we merely “allow” ourselves to observe and make beneficial changes along the way. For example, if we notice ourselves focusing on worrying about something over which we have no direct control, we consciously choose to let go of the worrying.
If solutions are available, we focus on them and not on what may or may not occur. This is a simple and beneficial process but will be met with much resistance as it goes against our current conditioning.
This is really a mind game where we learn to create in ways that take us toward what we desire instead of remaining stuck in our current conditioned state dominated by our subconscious mind.
We can’t arrive at our desired destination if we are going the wrong way.
When beginning this process of change it helps to put reminders around the house and even in the car to bring us back to the present moment where all change takes place. After a while, this will become second nature as our overall awareness and our time spent in the eternal now increases.
Change Your Subconscious Programming and Become Free
“No one saves us but ourselves. No one can and no one may. We ourselves must walk the path.”
We are responsible for making any needed changes within ourselves to break free from limiting programs. No one is going to come to save the day for us.
Change your subconscious programming now; don’t wait.
While this can be a bit frightening, it is also empowering once we discover the power within ourselves to make constructive change. It has always been there but has gone unnoticed.
Instead of using this power against ourselves by miscreating a scenario we don’t want, let’s make a few changes and create the life we truly desire. This takes time and effort only because we are hypnotized by what we think, feel, and see.
Even when we get to the point of intellectually understanding and accepting this stuff, it still requires increased awareness to break free. The limiting beliefs are projecting a dream that seems so real that it doesn’t seem possible it is merely an illusion.
To change our conditioning or paradigm we must take one small step at a time to increase our awareness of exactly what these core beliefs are and not what we think they are. Our conditioned egoic self is very good at ignoring the obvious.
I encourage us all to make a daily practice of quiet time where we explore within and discover what lies behind our made-up exterior. It is not only a fascinating adventure but it leads to the freedom that we all desire and deserve.
Our authentic Self awaits our awakening.
In Peace and Love,

Hey it’s so sad that our subconscious minds are programmed by the time we’re like 6 years old. It’s amazing parents don’t know this and actually give try to bring up their kids confidence for example. During this crucial age. The strangest thing is that we don’t even remember any of it. And yet it affects absolutely everything in our lives.
So very true, Jake. Thanks for your thoughts.
Hi Joseph,
You must be able to lead yourself if you want any kind of transformation within yourself.
If you want to achieve something amazing in your life, then you must believe that you are amazing. Nobody has ever achieved anything amazing if they didn’t believe in themselves and didn’t believe that they were amazing.
Thank you for sharing such an inspirational article, means the world to us.
All the best,
Tom
Thanks, Tom. Your thoughts are much appreciated. Best, Joseph
