Negative To Positive Mindset — What’s The Secret?

To change from a negative to positive mindset is not difficult in principle, but can be challenging in our experience. Many years of conditioning ideas about ourselves that are not true is what creates this challenge.

Let’s dig a bit deep and uncover some ways to get this done. There is no secret, but there is a definite process to self-discovery and the desired change.

Negative to Positive Mindset — The Beginning

Negative to Positive Mindset

“If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.”

— Wayne Dyer —

Although change can be uncomfortable, it is a necessary part of life that occurs regardless of our resistance. We must be realistic in our progress goals understanding that our present mindset was formed over many years.

We begin our change from negative to positive mindset with a simple decision to change. We then commit to stay the course.

As resistance appears, rather than seeing it as a reason to quit, we recognize its gift to us instead. We are grateful for the discoveries we make as a result of this resistance.

Limiting beliefs now come within our focus, where before we just took them for granted as a part of life. Once we can view them we see that they are merely ideas we bought into.

This is a tremendous start as we can now see what has kept us in a negative mindset. Now it’s time to change things around a bit.

Process of Change

“Sometimes we make the process more complicated than we need to. We will never make a journey of a thousand miles by fretting about how long it will take or how hard it will be. We make the journey by taking each day step by step and then repeating it again and again until we reach our destination.”

— Joseph B. Wirthlin —

Now for a few steps we can take right this very moment.

  • Relax
  • Make this a fun process
  • Lose the guilt
  • Recognize that this is just changing how we have been conditioned and the same energy will fuel our positive states
  • Accept where we are right this moment so we have a clear starting point
  • Begin with the smallest positive step to break the inertia and establish a positive pattern such as repeating a positive statement about ourselves such as, “I am an unlimited being”, “Each and every day I am getting better and better”, etc.
  • Understanding that “the weakest person is totally unlimited and has all of creation to draw upon”
  • Make the commitment to consistently take positive steps each day
  • Identify limiting beliefs as they come to mind and immediately change them
  • Observe ourselves consciously each day and make appropriate corrections along the way
  • Keep reminding ourselves to do this as we fall back into our default patterns
  • Understand just as the plant is not visible when the seed is planted it is still important to water the seed each day. Our thoughts are planted in the rich soil of the Universe and just because we do not see initial results we are still making progress behind the scenes.

Negative to Positive Mindset — Consistency is Key

“One isn’t necessarily born with courage, but one is born with potential. Without courage, we cannot practice any other virtue with consistency. We can’t be kind, true, merciful, generous, or honest.”

— Maya Angelou —

When making any type of change consistency is essential. Whether it is learning a new skill, exercising, or changing our mindset, consistent effort brings results.

It does take a bit of courage as well to develop the type of consistency needed to make such a change in our mindset. It is scary to step out of our comfort zone where we have been operating for so long.

Each moment brings us a new opportunity to move forward from negative to positive mindset and accomplish our heart-based objectives. It all comes down to taking that first hesitant first step to break the inertia and create some momentum.

Each step we take is important regardless if we see immediate results. It is our consistent effort that will bring the results that we desire.

Understanding Our “Why”

“He who has a why to live can bear almost any how.”

— Friedrich Nietzsche —

It’s all about our underlying desire. When filled with passion and it is heartfelt the “how” inherently presents itself.

Either we know or can find out how to get things done but for any number of reasons we quite often don’t follow through. The simple answer is that we don’t value doing it enough.

We are all unique individuals with different needs and desires. But what we all have in common is the desire to be happy.

Feeling content and joyful is the foundation that we seek to experience. How we experience it is our “why”.

Whether it is a business goal or wanting to support our families in specific ways, it all comes down to a burning desire to do so. When we have that desire we will find a way to get things done. The “means” always has a way of showing up.

When we truly desire to change our mindset and live a happier existence we will do so. We will spend the time daily changing our current paradigm of thought.

Once it becomes a habit we will embrace this change fully and realize that it is an ongoing process. No matter our level of success there is always ways to improve and increase our value to others.

Negative to Positive Mindset — The Journey Begins

Negative to Positive Mindset

“Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant.”

— Robert Louis Stevenson —

Every journey begins with the decision to move forward. After the initial step, the next step naturally follows.

It is just a matter of getting out of our own way. We do this by accessing our power in the present moment by focusing on what we desire.

Let go of the noise in our heads that keeps us stuck in the past and/or future. We just need to create a little space so that we can bypass our default programming or habit patterns.

This is a never-ending journey with wonderful experiences along the way. As we continue to expand and grow we are then prepared to handle added responsibility and success.

Sharing our success with others not only encourages others to replicate our efforts, but it brings us the satisfaction of being of service. We are all on the journey of life together at different levels of progress. There is always more to learn and share.

Moving from negative to positive mindset not only is more enjoyable and fulfilling, but it enables us to make a positive contribution to the world. Letting go of all the negative baggage allows us to perceive more clearly and make decisions that benefit all.

  1. This is such an insightful and motivating post! Shifting from a negative to a positive mindset truly requires patience, self-awareness, and a commitment to consistency. I especially love the emphasis on small daily actions—like identifying and replacing limiting beliefs—and viewing resistance as a gift rather than a setback. The use of quotes throughout adds so much depth and inspiration. It’s a beautiful reminder that transformation is a journey, not a quick fix, and that our “why” is the ultimate driving force.
