Escape The Matrix

In order to escape the matrix of illusion and bondage it is critical to accept that we do not know what we don’t know. The challenge is that we are bound by the power of our beliefs whether they are correct or not.Escape The Matrix

That being said, this requires a bit of humility and patience as well as the trust of a little child.

When we were young we were much more open to learning to change things up as needed. Over the years we have got a bit stuck in our ways.

Why Not Escape the Matrix?

“Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding.”

— Khalil Gibran —

That’s a very good question. Similar to the movie The Matrix, this entails us breaking free from a conditioned mindset that has imprisoned our natural self.

Here are a few ideas to get us onto the path to freedom.

  • Similar to a little child we must question everything, especially the status quo. When we were kids we definitely were not shy about doing this. Always seek the truth.
  • Hang with folks that are singing or at least humming the same tune. Some people are committed to staying within the confines of their comfort zone for the perceived safety that they assume is there. These are not the folks that will support our efforts. Let’s seek out those who also desire the truth and are willing to question the system.
  • Let’s be willing to learn other ideas, different perspectives, and cultures to broaden our scope beyond our own limited experiences.
  • Be aware of social conditioning and question those beliefs as to their validity rather than accepting them at face value.
  • Treasure freedom in all areas of our lives by living from our authentic values and expressing ourselves with integrity and honesty.
  • Seek clarity of thought prior to making decisions. Once we are clear on exactly what we want we can then proceed in an effective and efficient way. Spending some time in nature will facilitate that clarity.
  • Embrace the power of the present moment letting go of the baggage of the past and the worry of the future.
  • Wait for our Marching Orders and then take action. Once we prepare by gaining sufficient clarity our intuition will lead the way.

Fear is the only reason we would not escape the matrix. The fear is that things may get worse. Once this is recognized it is just a matter of deciding to move forward one small step at a time.

Little by little the cloud cover will recede, and our inner brilliance will shine through.

Struggle is Part of the Journey

“The most beautiful people we have known are those who have known defeat, known suffering, known struggle, known loss, and have found their way out of those depths.”

— Elisabeth Kubler-Ross —

When we find ourselves in an uncomfortable situation, taking steps to break free is important. Making changes and doing things differently involves a learning curve and a bit of struggle along the way.

This is not to be feared or avoided. We are much stronger than that. Our courage, strength, ingenuity, toughness, and innate abilities will lead the way.

As we progress we develop our strengths and abilities to such a great extent that what once seemed like a big challenge becomes just another task to check off our to-do list. We can’t currently envision all the opportunities that will open to us as we persistently move forward.

Escape The Matrix in Creative Ways

The key thought here is that we are imprisoned within and not without. A re-awakening of who we are is necessary in order to gain the freedom that we so much desire.

This involves challenging our assumptions about everything. Ourselves, other people, the financial system, governments, education, traditional business, religion, the media, consumerism, and whatever else comes to mind. This requires a bit of critical thinking and being empathetic and patient with ourselves and others.

Our thoughts and emotions are fueled by our beliefs and what we truly believe is sacrosanct to us regardless of the validity of that belief. This being the case, it is not hard to envision why it is so challenging to break free when we are convinced that we are not imprisoned in the first place.

In order to make any progress at all we first have to be “willing” to explore a bit and be open to change once we are convinced it is needed. The only way to get to that point is to discover the core beliefs that are running our lives and responsible for our thoughts, emotions, and subsequent actions.

Yes, we do create our own realities regardless if we are conscious of this or not.

We are the only ones that can convince ourselves of the truth that lies within. No one else can.

A Quick Primer on Changing Beliefs

This does require a bit of time and patience. It is not that our beliefs are hidden deep within our subconscious, but that we have been so distracted that we are looking in the wrong direction.

It takes a while to learn how to redirect our awareness so that we are able to see what is really there.

We can do this either by following our feelings and emotions back to their source or by listening carefully within as we ask ourselves “Why do I feel this way?”. Being persistent with that one question will reveal much to us.\

Otherwise, we can take the more intellectual approach and write down all beliefs that come to mind about ourselves, others, and the world in general. Keep writing until exhausted because we never know when our core ideas or beliefs will emerge.

When they do we will be surprised that it is what was always apparent but we just took it for granted without questioning.Escape The Matrix

Jot down all these ideas and then change the ones that do not serve us into the truth of our being.

Escape The Matrix — No Turning Back

Whether we take the red or blue pill that is our choice, but once we take the red pill there is no turning back. Our lives will never be the same as we begin to see the world for what it really is. Yes, it is a very deep rabbit hole.

But regaining our inherent freedom is a good thing as well as being aware of the power we possess to create our lives in magnificent ways that benefit everyone with whom we are honored to meet. This is a great responsibility as well.

It is much better to remain asleep than to use our power in negative ways. We were meant to serve and spread peace and love to others as we help them to remember who they are and what they are capable of.

Let’s join together in a firm commitment to let go of all the excess baggage we have accumulated over the years that is dragging us down, and fully experience the lives we deserve as we all escape from the matrix leaving behind all fear and regrets.

  2.  Awesome! Your post “Escape the Matrix” in your web Un-retired Entrepreneur shows light to issue that engulfs the human race which is belief. The fact is that Our beliefs make us or break us. Understanding this fact is probably the first step to freedom. I like this line in your article “key thought here is that we are imprisoned within and not without”. Truly everything is within and only by changing what is within can we change the without. The without is only a reflection of the within. Your post has helped me to understand that I only need to evaluate my beliefs to get out of the Matrix.

    • Thanks very much for your inspiring insights and comments. Yes, our beliefs do imprison us but they can also release us with the right amount of awareness and courage to make a few changes within ourselves. We are more afraid of our own power than we are of any challenges we may face. All the very best. Joseph

    • Thanks Chas. One baby step at a time. Once the inertia is broken we move forward until we have the realization that we have been fearful of mere illusions all the time. Fear only exists when we empower it to exist. All the best. Joseph

  4. Hi Joseph,

Very informative and helpful article. I love to discuss similar things on my own website.

If you don’t have awareness, then you don’t know that you don’t have awareness.

If you can’t see what you need to have awareness of, then you don’t know that you can’t see what you need to have awareness of.

To grow to your full potential, you must have awareness.

The more you learn about yourself, and you start doing things differently, you will not only become a highly effective leader, you will become a better person overall.

Highly effective leaders don’t just have to do things better, they have to be better.

Raising your awareness level isn’t just about your competency and what you can do, it is about your character, and who you are.

Thank you for sharing and keep up the great work.

    All the best,

    Tom
