Finding peace of mind is essential to our well-being in so many ways. When caught up in a maze of chaotic daily activities, it is hard to imagine that gaining some peace is even possible.
Let me inform you that finding peace of mind is not only possible, but it has more benefits than you can even imagine at this point. Le’s unveil the curtain to reveal how peace of mind is not only available to us now but in fact, is our natural state of being.
Finding Peace of Mind in a World of Chaos
“For every minute you remain angry, you give up sixty seconds of peace of mind.”
When living in a chaotic world finding peace of mind sounds impossible. Only when we view things in this manner are we caught up in the web of the outer world.
Let’s shift focus a bit and look within ourselves to discover many treasures that we have overlooked. They are just waiting for us to discover them.
Finding peace of mind involves setting boundaries based on self-respect, being mindful of self and others, spending time reflecting on our life, exercising, spending time in nature, and meditating a bit. Keeping things simple also helps a lot.
When we take care of ourselves we are positioned to be of service to others. Losing the habit of multi-tasking reduces stress and overwhelm.
Surrounding ourselves with supportive folks and focusing on solutions rather than problems increases our emotional resilience. Although this is an inner journey to create a harmonious environment, it does require dealing with external challenges in creative ways.
Unlocking the Door to Our Inner Prison
“I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past, I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone, there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”
Amidst the inner turmoil, an inner light continues to flicker. It may barely be perceptible but it is there nonetheless.
This light within ourselves is changeless and eternal. Fortunately, we have the key to unlock our inner prison and release the light.
Finding peace of mind enlightens us because once we are released, we embrace the truth about ourselves. No longer are we satisfied with the illusionary world that we created.
The choice is always between fear and love, and it is about time that we make the most beneficial choice for ourselves. We can start this very moment to “undo” the chains of limiting beliefs that we have unknowingly embraced.
Finding Peace of Mind is a Journey Within
“Sometimes we make the process more complicated than we need to. We will never make a journey of a thousand miles by fretting about how long it will take or how hard it will be. We make the journey by taking each day step by step and then repeating it again and again until we reach our destination. “ –Joseph B. Wirthlin —
Just like the song, “Looking for Love in All the Wrong Places”, we look for answers where they cannot be found. Since doing the same thing over and over again without results is considered, insanity I would have to say that I qualified a long time ago.
Trying to change things around in our environment to become happy and fulfilled just doesn’t work. How often have we achieved a goal and after a short time felt let down and unsatisfied?
The standard answer is to set another goal in search of what cannot be found outside ourselves. There is absolutely nothing wrong with achieving goals in all areas of our lives, but have we enjoyed the journey?
We don’t get things to be happy; we create from a state of happiness.
Within ourselves is the peace and happiness we all desire. Let’s take a journey within and discover what we have been missing.
The Journey Within
“A journey is a person in itself; no two are alike. And all plans, safeguards, policing, and coercion are fruitless. We find that after years of struggle that we do not take a trip; a trip takes us.”
So, what is this journey within all about? Finding peace of mind is an inside job and we experience the results without
This is not complicated at all because all we have to do is “Be” ourSelves. If anything it is more a process of “undoing” so that we remember Who we really Are.
We have created quite a bit of cloud cover, but the light within ourselves continues to shine as bright as ever. We are that Light.
Without the cloud cover of misperception and false belief, we are free to experience peace of mind. The experience itself brings the enlightenment as our inner light shines through.
Now for some practical steps to unlocking the prison door and finding peace of mind.
- Recognize our current state; be brutally honest
- Realize that when peace is not experienced we are resisting it based on guilt and fear
- Experience our feelings fully
- It is okay to feel however we feel
- Realize that we are merely asking for love with all this resistance
- Forgive ourselves for feeling guilty and not realizing that Who we Are is enough
- Close our eyes and allow our intuition to surface with its many gifts
- Replace any fear-based thoughts with the truth that we exist within a safe and loving Universe by which we are cared for
- Spend time daily reinforcing ideas of truth
- Be grateful for our enlightened state and for finding peace of mind
The Joy of Finding Peace of Mind
“Never be in a hurry; do everything quietly and in a calm spirit. Do not lose your inner peace for anything whatsoever, even if your whole world seems upset.” — Saint Francis de Sales —
Finding peace of mind enlightens us to the point of realizing that we exist in an everlasting state of innocence. By forgiving ourselves and others it becomes apparent that this was always so.
We have two conflicting states experienced by our minds. One is based on the truth about ourselves, and the other is an illusionary ego-based system of thought.
Even though one is false it can seem very real. And because of this, we spend much time and energy defending it even when we are not happy with our experience.
It’s time to experience the joy of finding peace of mind. No worries or regrets based on past or future thinking.
As we relax into the present moment, we are greeted by the peace we so very much desire. The only price is loving ourselves enough to let go of the resistance.
I encourage us all to spend the necessary time to let go of our limiting ideas of who we think we are, and to embrace Who we really Are. With enough clarity this decision is a no-brainer.

This is a beautifully written and insightful discussion on finding peace of mind. It serves as a powerful reminder that peace is not something we need to chase externally but rather something we uncover within ourselves. The emphasis on self-awareness, mindfulness, and releasing fear-based thoughts resonates deeply. I appreciate the practical steps provided, as they offer a tangible path to achieving inner tranquility. Truly, peace of mind is a journey worth taking.
Thanks so much, Herman. Your comments are very much appreciated.
Joseph- this is a great article about finding peace of mind! As an entrepreneur, I find it challenging to “turn off” the business world at the end of the day. Appreciating the moment is key. Letting go of the things I cannot control, especially fear, and just focusing on breathing is very helpful.
As you mentioned, fear is a huge inner prison that I have battled for many years. Letting go of fear is incredibly enlightening! I am glad to have come across this today and wish you the best!
Thanks, Scott, for sharing your thoughts. All the Best.
Hi Joseph,
Another very interesting and important article for the good of our health.
Peace of mind is something I have struggled with over the years. But since I started writing and blogging about 5 years ago, my peace of mind has been easier because I found my life’s work. I moved from writing blogs to writing books, and then creating online courses, and then becoming a coach. My next venture is to become a speaker.
I will never become the perfect author, course creator, coach or speaker, but I will do my best to be my best every time I perform in this area of my life.
This is how I am going to achieve peace of mind by being 100% certain that I give my best every day in my life’s work.
Thank you for the great reminder my friend and keep up the amazing work you do.
All the best,
Tom
Thanks, Tom. Doing are best is quite good enough because what we share to important to others whether we realize it or not. Best, Joseph
Hi. This is a powerful reminder that the journey within is the simple and obvious path to peace, tranquility, fulfilment and ultimately bliss. It is so easily forgotten as our attention is always directed outwards towards the world of phenomena and sensation. I really like your practical steps. As you say it is OK to feel how we feel and another suggestion is to witness the feeler feeling the feelings – all processes within ourselves. We can chose not to identify with negative feelings and they will naturally fade away. At some level we are always there, watching what we are doing. If we just relax and be the watcher even while we are plunged in activity, there is peace. I love the quotes btw – especially from Dune!
All the best
Andy
