  1. After discussing with friends who have visited Azenhas Do Mar, it’s clear that its status as a hidden gem with low tourist traffic is a double-edged sword. They loved the serene atmosphere and the charm of the village without the overwhelming crowds. However, they pointed out significant challenges in accessibility. The necessity of having a car to explore the area and the lack of public transportation within the village were common concerns. While this lack of easy access helps maintain the village’s peacefulness, it also makes it harder for tourists to visit and enjoy its attractions. Finding a balance between preserving its tranquility and improving accessibility could make Azenhas Do Mar more appealing to a broader audience while still keeping its unique charm.

    • Thanks, Will. You made some great points. I like the accessibility challenge as it keeps the crowds away and to me a small price to pay in terms of lack of transportation options. All the best. Joseph

  2. I can’t help but feel a deep sense of nostalgia. I was here for the first fifty years. The memory of strolling along the cobblestone streets, admiring the pristine white houses adorned with vibrant blue accents, is still vivid in my mind. The sound of the waves crashing against the rugged cliffs and the salty sea breeze
One of the highlights of my trip was undoubtedly savoring the famous Portuguese custard tarts, known as pastéis de nata. These heavenly treats, with their flaky golden crust and creamy, sweet custard filling, are a true culinary delight. I still recall the moment I bit into a warm, freshly baked pastel de nata from a charming local bakery. The rich, velvety custard melted in my mouth, while the crisp pastry provided the perfect contrast in texture. The subtle hint of cinnamon and the caramelized top added depth to the flavor profile, making each bite a blissful experience. Thank you for the memories.
