Asking what’s the problem is essential to getting it solved. We are not able to fix something unless we can identify exactly what it is that needs to be fixed.
This may sound simplistic, but very few folks know what their main challenge is to discover who they are and what they desire. Until this is identified we find ourselves running around in circles and pursuing things we really don’t want.
“Design is directed toward human beings. To design is to solve human problems by identifying them and executing the best solution.”
What’s The Problem with…
Quite often we think the problem is somewhere out there with other people or circumstances. We seldom choose to look within to discover the cause of what is really bothering us.
Our frustration manifests in many ways in our attitude and actions toward others and ourselves, as well as how we deal with everyday occurrences. So much of this happens without our awareness and that is the difficulty.
Things just tend to happen and that is the way it is. We are not aware that we are misusing our power.
Once we recognize that the problem is not out there, but within ourselves, we can begin to make progress.
Identifying the Culprit
Once we identify our underlying difficulty we have something solid with which to work. Otherwise, we are dealing with the symptoms of the problem and not the cause.
This is a life-transforming process that aligns us with our true desires so that we can set goals that are meaningful, rather than being based on what others think is important.
Chasing symbols of happiness and success is not the same as “being” happy and successful.
Observing What’s the Problem
When we pay attention and observe ourselves on a daily basis we become aware of our thoughts and feelings and how they direct our actions and behavior. This leads us eventually to what is causing all of this, which is the key to unlocking the treasure chest.
It is only when we have identified our main problem or challenge that are we able to move forward with viable solutions. Once we are clear on our purpose the means are provided.
The Identification Process
Let’s review a few ways to identify the specific problem that is getting in our way of living a life of total fulfillment and joy.
- Be as clear and specific as possible in identifying the problem. With this increased understanding we are able to clearly see its effects on our lives and gain an understanding of eliminating the cause.
- Do the research and due diligence in considering possible solutions.
- Review the information gathered which will lead to the root cause. At this point, patterns and trends will surface indicating relationships with different factors.
- Brainstorm ideas and be open to intuitive flashes that will appear.
- Once some possible solutions are gathered review them to verify which ones are effective. Implement the best solution and make appropriate changes along the way.
The intention here is to clear away all of the stuff that is blocking the truth. When the main problem is identified the solution will be apparent. Then it is only a matter of going through the motions to eliminate it through our decisions and choices.
Knowledge Applied is Power
There are many reasons why we don’t take action and apply what we learn. Quite often we end up beating ourselves up for not doing so.
This is quite unfair to us as we have not given ourselves the benefit of the doubt.
Is what we learned the key ingredient to solving our problem and have we identified the real problem?
Unless these two factors are in place we can take all the actions we want and still not feel complete and satisfied, We simply are not being authentic and addressing the true cause of our difficulties.
Knowledge is power when it is applied to correcting the real problem.
Discovering What’s The Problem
This will take a little time and effort but it is well worth it. Once we know what the main issue is that is blocking us from expressing our power in a creative manner, we are able to take the actions necessary to accomplish our desires consciously.
Instead of chasing money or fame because that is what we think will bring us happiness and fulfillment, we will pursue our unique creative function which is our destiny.
The easiest way to get this done is to observe ourselves every day noting down in a notebook or on our phone the uncomfortable feelings that arise as a result of our interactions and daily activities.
Most likely our first reaction will be to blame some person or circumstance, but that is okay as the important aspect is to be aware of what we are feeling and how we respond. Record all feelings even minor irritations and frustrations that come up.
Over time some consistent patterns will develop where it will be blatantly evident what our main issue is. Also, we will begin to realize that what we are feeling inside is responsible for what we are experiencing in our outer lives.
This needs to be felt and experienced and not just intellectually understood. An intellectual understanding is only the first step, but a major change will only occur at the experiential level.
It will be like we can see things clearly for the first time as we are now not blinded by our false perceptions and limiting beliefs.
“The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes.”
I look forward that all taking the time to experience the freedom and joy of discovering and eliminating what is holding us back from our full self-expression and the fulfillment of our very special function and purpose in life.
To our Total Freedom and Happiness,
Joseph William
